Up Holland High School offers students the opportunity to:

  • Excel through OCR Sports Studies qualification in the sports previously covered whilst enjoying others to carry on participating in through life.
  • Participate in student-choice activities and concept based lessons that focus on personal development

Excel in attacking and defending skills through increasingly more competitive stations
Further excel in choreographic and performance skills and techniques
Excel through leading and officiating competitions developing the ability to feedback effectively
Developing the ability to transfer skills across activities e.g. attacking and defensive principles

Summer

Choose from:
Tennis
Rounders
Softball
Cricket

Excel in batting and fielding positioning and tactics
Further excel in shot selection and accuracy in increasingly demanding situations
Develop a more mature attitude towards game play and tactics

All students

Fitness Develop muscular and cardiovascular endurance
Work effectively at high intensity to develop anaerobic and aerobic fitness
Develop strength and conditioning through power repetitions

Concept Curriculum Lesson

 

Students cover the 5 school LORIC values in half termly blocks, taught through a range of new and traditional activities e.g. initiative through OAA, resilience through volleyball, communication through table tennis.
Students will also enjoy exploring the development of excellence through athletics lessons.

ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES

  • Inclusive lunchtime and after school clubs in the following activities: Football, Rugby, Netball, Hockey, Gymnastics, Dance, Table Tennis, Basketball, Trampolining, Athletics, Rounders, Tennis, Cricket, Volleyball, Fitness
  • Previously organised trips & visits: European/ USA Ski Trip, Chill Factor Trip, Outdoor & Adventurous Activities residential visits to the Lake District, Rock n River trip.
  • Live sporting events previously attended: Olympic Games, Super league netball games, Netball World Cup, Wigan Athletic games, Gymnastics World Championships
  • Focus areas:  Inter-house competition weeks, Whole school Olympic week, Fit Fridays, Inclusion competitions
  • Annual entry into West Lancs PE Association calendar of events including netball, football, table tennis, Sportshall Athletics, athletics, rounders, cricket, SEND events, swimming
  • Entry into Wigan Hockey League events
  • Entry into St.Helens Rugby League competitions
  • Opportunities to gain accreditation in leadership activities through the Leadership Academy Award Scheme.

HOW TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
