OUR AIMS

Up Holland High School offers students the opportunity to:

  • Excel and Enjoy
  • Excel through OCR Sports Studies qualification and excel in the sports previously covered whilst enjoying others to carry through life.
  • Chosen pathway of 5 activities and compulsory fitness sessions over the two years of Key Stage 4.

Further excel in choreographic and performance skills and techniques
Excel through leading and officiating competitions developing the ability to feedback effectively
Developing the ability to transfer skills across activities e.g. attacking and defensive principles

Excel in batting and fielding positioning and tactics
Further excel in shot selection and accuracy in increasingly demanding situations
Develop a more mature attitude towards game play and tactics
Further develop the complexity of track and field events in competition and practice

Survival –
Outdoor cooking skills

Fitness Lesson

Plyometrics

Develop muscular and cardiovascular endurance
Develop hill running, speed running and endurance running
Work effectively at high intensity to develop anaerobic and aerobic fitness
Develop musical timing and coordination with and without a step
Develop strength and conditioning through power repetitions

ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES

  • Inclusive lunchtime and after school clubs in the following activities: Football, Rugby, Netball, Hockey, Gymnastics, Dance, Table Tennis, Basketball, Trampolining, Athletics, Rounders, Tennis, Cricket,
  • Other Trips/ Visits: Ski trip, Outdoor Education Lake District trip, Live sporting events – included in the past – Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Super league netball games, Netball World Cup, Wigan Athletic Team of the Match.
  • Focus areas: Trek to Tokyo – Inter-house week Olympic based activities, Whole School Olympic week, Fit Fridays, Wellbeing Wednesdays.
