GET INTO TEACHING

The Schools Direct Programme is a unique Secondary School Direct Teacher Training programme for graduates, in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU).

Delivered by the North West Learning Partnership (NWLP), the taught element of the School Direct Programme is delivered by outstanding and specialised trainers from its teaching school partnership – headteachers, specialist leaders in education, experienced consultants and outstanding practitioners who are still involved in teaching.

The majority of the training sessions delivered by NWLP take place in the strategic partner schools. The Secondary PGCE taught at LJMU begins with a Summer School at the university. Trainee teachers will spend some days training here at Up Holland High, or at Rainford High and LJMU.

We pride ourselves on our ‘Dedication to Excellence’ that features strongly in our ethos at Up Holland High School. Trainee teachers, like all staff are always treated as professionals who are part of the school team afforded the opportunity to develop and succeed in a supportive environment.

The school direct programme focuses on developing your subject knowledge and subject pedagogy as well as the all-round knowledge and skills to be a great secondary professional.
